I am sorry that happened. It is a common occurrence, however. Tell your mother that you will have to go to your district attorney’s office and file charges if she cannot make arrangements to clear this up. Meanwhile, open your own checking account or savings account and don’t have a joint account with her again. Let her know that you are responsible for paying back this loan and she has to help. Don’t let this prevent you from going back to college. Find somewhere else to live, if possible, and find a community agency to help you in this matter.

I am so sorry that your mother (who is meant ot be good to you) had such bad decision making skills. Truly and bummer.

Have you written to the loan association and explained this? There may be grace given you. Many creditors are willing to be patient with a person who is willing to give a certain amount each month (though less than they wish at the beginning)

Never get another joint account with her again! Aside from that, all you can do is try to pay some of those things off and get back into school. Good luck to you
