and there was an entry from a student loan consolidation company called Nelnet that I have NEVER done business with. I opened the first letter they sent me and after my husband and I figured out what they are, we shredded the letter.

How in the world can a company I’ve never contacted have an entry on my credit report?

let me start by saying i attended itt technical institute in 2006 to better myself and my family however during that time me and my family were facing hardship. when i signed up to itt technical institute the financial adviser offered me “STUDENT LOANS” AND ALSO “PRIVATE LOANS” which i wish i should of never applied though she “DID NOT MENTION EOP, TAP AND PELL” and other grants that could help me for economically low income families.i had already attended class for about two months before i dropped the school altogether because of hard family problems. i found out about the grants in 2008 which was already to late for me. and now im stuck with past problems that looks like no end in sight. i am in no way to pay off the private loans because of what their asking, but i put my federal loans into consolidation and made payment arrangements with them. but now my private loans are in default and are ready for a lawsuit!!!. i haven’t been able to obtain a higher paid position accept being a cashier for tops and that wouldn’t even pay for my moms rent. now its been 5yrs later and i wanted to go back to school but its going to be very troublesome once you already have a defaulted private student loan*lawsuit pending against you and cannot obtain grants or any other help. sallie mea has been harassing me over a period of time and i understand why but i cant pay for whatever the settlement is which is about $4,000 and the total amount is about 10,000. please someone anyone help me i really do need help to get out of my crisis that im in. im only looking for serious inquiries that can help me. has anyone been through this before and if so how did they get help for it.

I have a $5000 bill with a state university and must have it paid before I can attend classes. I’ve used my federal student loan eligibility, and have been told that federal student loans cannot be used to remove past bills anyways (nor can student loan consolidators take the debt).

I’m very close to graduating, just an error in judgement on my part caused a semester’s worth of student loans to be rescinded and the bill (with huge interest) has sat at the university for a few months without my knowledge.

So, I’d like to see if a standard debt consolidator would take the bill – and if not, where else I may turn. This is a pretty huge problem for me.

1. Investing- would it be ok to max invest in a profit sharing retirement plan with a company that matches $3 for your $1? And also invest and max a Roth IRA plan?
2. Student Loans- after consolidation, would $1000/month be a good plan?
3. Buying a House- what price range would be the best for a first-timer with this status and income
4. Buying a Car- I like to drive nice cars and get a new one often at least every 2 years. I already have a car I own, so would leasing be a good choice?
I also have excellent credit score. Have never been late on any payment. The area that I’m moving to upon graduation in May is Florence, SC.
