I’m in love with a guy that I’ve been dating for a few years but he has a TON of student loan debt and credit card bills($200K in student loans and $10-15K in credit cards). He deferred his student loan payments for another year but I’m really worried about what my future will be like with this guy once his deferrment period is up. He barely has enough money now to take care of himself and borrows money from his family all the time. He earns a very low salary right now and I can’t see how he will be able to pay his debt back anytime soon. I’m at the opposite end of the financial spectrum. I have a good career, no debt whatsoever, and I’m finanically secure. I’m planning to purchase my first home in the next few months and I would love to start a family soon. I know that marriage is definitely out of the question without a prenup but I wonder if it’s even worth staying at this point. I know it seems a bit shallow but I’m considering leaving the relationship to find someone who has less financial troubles. I really love him but the future looks pretty dim. Should I stay with him and see what happens or should I listen to my gut feeling and get out before it gets worse?

I am too scared to make inquiries as it has been such a long time (9 years) and the debt could be enormous. I want to visit New Zealand for my Honeymoon and am scared they might not let me in or out. I have four student bank accounts, with maxed out overdrafts and one maxed out credit card. My parents can’t afford to help me out. I only earn £55 a week, and can’t find another job.
