I have around $7,000 of credit card debt. I’m a full time student and I want advice to get it under control.
iseamonsters asked:
The debt is spread over 2 cards, the most on an American Express. I’ve used the cards for paying rent and other living and school expenses that my student loans didn’t cover. I’ve had the cards since 2005 and the balance has been increasing some each semester. I haven’t ever missed a payment due date, but I usually pay just a little over the minimum amount due (which for the Amex is now around $120, the Mastercard isn’t bad, it’s just $15). I stopped using both cards this summer because I didn’t want to add to the debt. I’ve tried getting a job at a bunch of places, but my school schedule makes it hard to get a decent one. Even after 3 or 4 months of making payments though since this summer, it doesn’t seem like the balances are decreasing much at all. There’s some finance fee around $80-$90 that takes away most of the payment I make each month. How can I get things under control? I need a job. I’ve stopped using the cards. But nothing seems to be going right so far.

How do I get rid of my credit card debt?
DannyS asked:
I am a college student that had poor money management skills early in college. I am in about $9,000 worth of debt from the past 3 years (much is late fees) and the collectors have been calling me. Are there any good steps to take to get me on the road back to debt free? I’ve heard about loan consolidation and stuff but I don’t know if thats just a scam.

What is the best way to get rid of credit card debt?
true blue asked:
Hi All. I’m a recent college grad who is fairly new to the workforce and is ready to get rid of her credit card debt!! I was fortunate enought not to borrow much in student loans (a total of about $9,000), however by grad time I owed about 9 thousand in credit card debt. Now I am ready to get rid of this burden. I know that this sounds horrible, but my situation was very different than that of the average student. I am a mother and was raising my daughter the whole time during college. Instead of working full time I focused on my studies and only worked part time. Needless to say this made everything harder but in the end it was worth it. Also, I’m not looking for an overnight solution. It took me six years to accumulate this debt so I know it wont disappera overnight. I’m just looking for the best way to go about it. Please help!
