Besides debt consolidators, is there anyway I could receive help paying off a student loan?

I am a 24yr old single mom that works full time and does not recieve any financial assitance for anything. I do not want to go to a debt consolidating place as I have known people that have done that and it has not worked out as they say they do. I am in debt up to my ears… Mainly because I trusted a family member and got screwed but i do have a student loan that is my doing. I am sick of requesting forbearencs for and I do not want to default on the loan. Although the rest of debt is not my doing it was my stupidity that im now stuck with it. But i really cant afford to pay it. Any help or info would be ssoooo appreciated,

I keep hearing from people who’ve chosen cheaper alternatives for college (such as state schools or schools that meet their full financial need) that school loans are the devil and to take out as few as possible. This may very well be true, but can I hear it from someone who’s actually paying off these loans? Was your educational experience worth the debt?
